Greasy Hair DO Care. OH So easy: DIY Dry Shampoo
Greasy hair is the worst! I live on the island of Kauai and between the hot sun, exercise and days surfing at the beach my hair sure can get greasy. Thankfully, I’ve found a recipe that works!
What you’ll need:
Baking Soda or Arrow Root Powder
(for Brunettes’ : Cocoa Powder)
doTERRA essential oils
My favorite hair oils:
Rosemary
Cedarwood
Tea Tree
Juniper Berry
Basil
Cypress
How to make:
Grab your baking soda, or Arrow Root Powder, Cocoa Powder - if you are a brunette, and add just a few drops each of one or more essential oils that nourish and support your hair, scalp, and your skin.
I recommend Tea Tree in any recipe you make for hair because it’s ultra-balancing! It will help you balance out your hair without overdrying.
Here are a couple of my favorite combinations:
2 drops Rosemary
1 drop Tea Tree
1 drop Cedarwood
You can grab a glass shaker bottle from shareoils.com, UPCYCLE! a spice container, or, you can just dump the mixture into a mason jar and use about 1/4-1/2 cup depending on how long or thick your hair is.
Add the mixture to your scalp, get it wet and massage it into your head. Then rinse. You scalp will feel refreshed and sometimes tingly if you used peppermint :) and the greasy build up that just naturally occurs when we over wash our hair will be gone. Repeat for a day or two if necessary.
I do this about once a month.
Honestly, if I would use ONLY wash my hair 2 times a week, that would keep me from having to do this. On weeks I do that, between washes, I use a mixture very similar to this!
Add these same hair and scalp healthy oil or any combo of oils to baby powder or arrowroot powder. Bam! You have a dry shampoo.
